In a time of both great prosperity and growth of the wage gap some think it is time for a change, to create more social justice by introducing the Universal Basic Income (UBI). But what is UBI? And could it be a solution?
UBI can be seen as the government paying a basic income to its citizens without asking anything in return. Many questions arise when this topic is brought up, such as: who will pay for this? Will it change anything? Won’t people stop working?
These questions will all be answered throughout the upcoming inspiration session on 7 October. X-Honours student Zalia Omar will tell us about UBI and lead the inspiration session.
Goal of the session
The attendees of this session will get a short introduction of what the UBI is, what models exists, what the outcomes of experiments were and what positive and negative aspects can be identified. This information from a neutral perspective will provide the basis for a discussion on the topic and forming or enriching your opinion. The interactive session will be online. Be prepared to share your thoughts and opinions!
