I am Chantal; I am a level 3 X-Honours student and my major is European Studies. Before I started this major, I did the major for history teacher. I still like history a lot, you can maybe say it is a passion of mine. One thing in history I like to inform myself about is propaganda. It gives me an image about how countries were looking at other countries and tried to influence their citizens with their ideologies.
We all know that image of Uncle Sam pointing at you and stating: ‘We want you for the US army’. It is probably one of the most known propaganda images. But what is propaganda exactly? During tomorrow’s session I, Chantal, will take you with me on a journey to learn more about propaganda and tell you all about it.
In this session we will explore a rich world of propaganda. We will talk a about what propaganda is and how it developed in the past few centuries. We will analyse some posters of a few countries and there will be room for some discussion.
The session will be taking place at the locations of Leeuwarden (X-Lab), Emmen (room 1080) or Meppel (room 15). Registration is not necessary anymore, but stay at home if you have Covid related complaints, consider a self-test to be sure and try to keep your distance. We take care of the fourth rule: ventilation!
