The Art of Debating (13 January)

If one of your new year resolutions is to communicate better, or if you are interested in voicing your opinions and debating, then you should join ‘the art of debating’. This inspiration session is organised by X-Honours students from the basecamp “The Tribe”.

They are going to teach you the ins and out of debating, give you some tips and tricks which you are going to put into practice. But don’t feel bad if you don’t manage to convince the opposite team, cause as the French moralist Joseph Joubert said “It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it.”

If you are not sold already than let us tell you some benefits that will improve your life through debating. First of all, there will always be people who disagree with you, so, why shouldn’t you learn the proper way to handle them? You can bring out the critical thinker inside yourself through improving your general knowledge and getting new insights in relevant topics which will also make you seem smart in front of your friends and family.

Debating will also improve your presentation skills, helps you to think quick on your feet, teaches you how to articulate your thoughts, and more.

All students from NHL Stenden are welcome to join this session. It will be casted in Blackboard Collaborate, starting at 14.30 hrs. You can ‘walk in’ 15 minutes earlier and have a chat if you like.

Students that are subscribed to X-Honours are asked to join via the X-Honours’ Blackboard course.
