On 8 December, Ivo Wenzler will give an inspirational session about the use of serious gaming and changing behavior. This can be organisational changes or individual changing.
Scientific literature on serious gaming often refers to the serious game oxymoron. An oxymoron is a stylistic term derived from Greek in which two words that contradict each other in their literal meaning are combined, in this case oxus (sharp) and mōros (blunt). Abbot (1970) was the first to characterise serious gaming as an oxymoron, because of an apparent tension in pursuing serious goals through an inherently non-serious medium. The Professorship Serious Gaming is dedicated and equipped to ensure this special approach to research and design has a meaningful, enduring place in our society.
Ivo Wenzler will be the speaker during this inspirational session. Since 2 years, Ivo has been working as a professor Serious Gaming at NHL Stenden. Ivo once started as an architect, worked as a professor at TU Delft and was a partner for 25 years at Accenture, a company in strategy en technology consultancy.
The session will be at the locations of Leeuwarden (X-Lab) and Meppel (room 15). Emmen (room 1080) will have its own session for which the students were already informed by Jan and Marjolijn. Registration is not necessary anymore, but stay at home if you have Covid related complaints, consider a self-test to be sure and try to keep your distance.
